Another Good Idea Posted on Fundlist

During the past few months, we have disciplined ourselves--and interested students, academic and administrative departments--to collecting all the requests for e-mail announcements and consolidating them into a weekly digest that we broadcast to alumni.  It takes me a few hours on Thursday evenings, but the transmission usually contains 8-10 items with lots of links.

TBH, I was surprised by the very positive feedback we have received from alumni who appreciate the consolidation of messages from different departments at the University. Of course, the fact that we control the access to the e-mail broadcasting tool makes the management of transmissions easier. There have only been 1-2 situations when the administration has urged that we send a separate message and not wait for the weekly broadcast.
