A
lot of organizations make this request annually, and this is a good
strategy.
Although it is typically higher maintenance for both development and human
resources, it gives you the opportunity to increase the ask on an annual
basis. The downside of an annual ask as opposed to a multi-year pledge is
that donors may find it easier to decline to renew.
On the other hand, the idea behind payroll deduction is convenience and
the concept of continuous giving. It can therefore be advantageous to
accept multi-year pledges also, although you probably don't want to do
more than a few years, again to give the opportunity to increase the
amount of the ask.
EFT pledges normally continue until requested to be stopped, but similarly
to longer term pledges, you need a strategy to increase the amount.
Probably a letter on some periodic basis. |
